Ancillary Text Research and Planning

Digipack Research

Generally pop covers are very bright in order to attract the audience of younger females and also males. The text of the title of the album usually covers the face or part of the artists body and this is in bold lettering and a girly font such as pink, white, purple etc. This helps an audience to clearly see who's album it is due to the large and clear title and therefore they can make a decision on whether they want to purchase it or not.

 Poses

The poses the artists pull are quite dramatic in some way in order to draw attention to the appearance of the artist. They are dramatic such as sexual poses with not much clothing, a close up of a type of a quite natural facial expression.

Makeup
The artists in the images often wear bright makeup to help reflect the pop genre further and make it more visible to an audience what the genre is.Red lipstick is worn, bright hair, colourful eyeshadow.

Camera shots
The camera shots used are generally close ups in order to capture facial expression, although sometimes they're longshots such as Miley Cyrus' album cover. The pop genre is then portrayed via the colour choices.

Set and Costume Design

Mise en scene:
The lighting in my music video when filming the main character is going to be quite dark to reflect the sombre mood and lyrics, however not too dark so you cannot see her face and clothing etc. The costume is simple, everyday clothing and the makeup is also natural and not over the top.

Cast list:
There is only one main character in my video and that is a young teenage girl. She is played by a friend, Chloe Hopkins.

Concept Ideas

Adele- Hello Music Video Concept Ideas

1- Narrative summary:
The video will have a narrative and abstract aspect to it. There will be a main female lead in the video to portray the emotion behind the lyrics. In addition, to make the video more intriguing I have thought about making it abstract so that there is more of a unique visual element to the video, not just narrative. I also want to have lyrics on screen for some of the lyrics, for example, the beginning when she says, "Hello, it's me..." and also during the start of the choruses, "Hello from the other side," and "Hello from the outside."  The narrative is that the main female lead is feeling upset that her ex and her have some unsaid business between the two that she wants to get off her chest; she is unhappy with the way things have been left.

2- Narrative summary:
The music video will be abstract and not include people or a narrative. I am thinking I would like to show props/objects in order to reflect the lyrics in the video.
